February 6th, 2012

Family and friends and everyone under the sun whats up !!!!!! Can you believe it this week Ill be riding on a jet. But oh boy will I miss these wonderful 2 years I hope your alls week has been great and i hope to see many of you this sunday!!
Well I cant believe my mission is coming to an end, but I am always reminded that I am in the middle!! I am looking forward to whats next in my life and more than ever will I need the spirit to help me make the right decisions. Its been amazing being able to serve my father in heaven. to represent my savior "as if he were personally ministering to the very people to whom he has sent me!" I have really meet wonderful people and I am so thankful for how much they have blessed my life. I am grateful for the conversions that have strengthened me and help me feel of that JOY of helping these wonderful people follow our savior jesus christ. I guess this is just really hard to put into words how grateful i am for these last 2 years. I know that the number 1 convert on my mission has been me. I know the path I want to follow , i know where i am going and I know my eternal goal is to do everything I can in this life to return to live with my father in heaven. I love my father in heaven and i feel that this life would be impossible without him, there is numerous times he has been there to pull me out of my most struggling times just because I take the time to talk to him. I love him and I have truly learned what it means to be prayerful. I am greatful for wonderful companions who have taught me and helped me grow and become someone better. I know this work is about becoming a friend to those around and finding ways to connect with all sorts of people.
I know that these past 2 years i have been humbled and my testimony has grown so much its amazing. I am greatful for the advice borther howell gave me before my mission "if you ever get to  a point where i dont know what to say i should bear my testimony" it has been one of my most powerful tools throughout my mission. Its been amazing to wake up every morning and to study the principles of the gospel, I really feel like i have become a better teacher, I look forward to learing more and more and appling it to my life . I know that my our savior loves each and everyone of us, I couldnt imagine my life without my savior, i would truely be nothing , i would be a waste and this life would be so hard without him. I am greatful to know that if we are pure and clean through the atonement of christ we can all reach our ultimate goal of returning to my father in heaven. I know without a doubt that the book of mormon is the word of god and its true, why would satan try so hard to prove to people its not true, its has to be it testifies of gods son and can lay out that road map and what our expectations are in this life. I am greatful for all of you and how much you have supported me on mission, I am greatful for so many things haha. but i will miss these 2 years. I am greatful for what I have become and Im  continuing to strive to become something even greater each and every day. I know these things are true and so much more. i hope you all have a great week, SEE YA SOON!!!! moroni 8:3

January 22, 2013

Dear families of the missionaries in the West Virginia Charleston Mission,

As you know, we have just finished our “White Christmas” here in the mission.  We hope your missionaries told you about all the things we were doing to bring this about.  We started the last week of September and finished the end of December.  Each companionship was to teach and baptize someone in that length of time.  We talked about the importance of the missionaries becoming white themselves, in that they should try to be obedient and be better than they ever had before, so they were worthy of finding an elect person to teach.  The “white” in this Christmas gift was not just a baptism, but the missionaries becoming better themselves.  We have seen so many miracles because of their desire to be better, to work harder, and to have faith that they could do this.

There are 66 companionships and 10 couples right now.  We baptized 85 wonderful people during that time making it more than enough to cover every companionship.  We were working as a mission and as a mission we succeeded.  Not every companionship saw a baptism, but they contributed to the overall feeling and work and they are just as successful as the ones who did baptize.  We prayed every day at one, besides the other prayers we do, just so everyone felt connected and God knew we were serious.

We also hit another goal we have had for a long time, that being to baptize 30 people in a month.  For some missions that is a week, but here that is a great month.  Well, in December we finally reached that goal as well.  We had 31 baptisms.  We are very thankful and happy and we want you to know how pleased and grateful we are for your son or daughter who is serving here.  The missionaries as a whole are more obedient and hard working than they have ever been.  They know the Lord is behind them in this work and that angels go before them, preparing the way.

We want to thank you for supporting them so much through these last few months.  Thank you for your prayers and for your encouragement to the missionaries.  Thank you for writing them on a weekly basis and lifting their spirits.  They love their families and love it when you get involved in what they are doing here.  Learn to know the people they are teaching and pray for them to truly allow the Holy Ghost to teach them and help them.  Those who study the gospel really have to make some major changes in their lives, so encouragement is always welcomed.

Again, thank you for allowing your missionary to be a part of this mission time with us.  We do truly love them and want them to love the doctrine of Christ so much that they will be changed forever.  May the Lord’s blessings be with you and your entire family this New Year.

Love and best wishes,

President and Sister Pitt

Encl:  Some of the miracles we saw during “White Christmas.”

White Christmas Miracles

Elders Dumke and Klain - Charleston AP

Marcie McDonald watched a MSNBC special on the church. She felt the Spirit prompt her to call her friend Shawn Long, who was a member of the church. Unbeknownst to Marcie, Sister Long has recently been reactivated. Marcie asked her if she could come to church with her the next day. She came and loved it, came for a few more weeks and then approached us and asked if she could meet with us to learn more about the church. We taught her first lesson in Sister Long’s home and set her with a baptismal date for 18 days later. She was baptized on her scheduled day, and now her husband has joined the church and they are on their way to having a Celestial Marriage.

Elders Mero and Maxwell - Charleston ZL

The Cottrells were found by the Montgomery Elders while visiting a part-member family in theit area. The Elders found out that Sister Cottrell was also a member who had been less-active but wanted to come back to church and had 4 children that she also wanted to have the gospel taught to. After receiving there address they found out that it was out of there area and they lived in a area where there were no missionary's serving. So we got a hold of the Beazers a senior couple in Flatwoods to go over and teach the first lesson. After a few short lessons they were set on date for Dec 16. They then were continued to be taught by the Charleston Zone Leaders and the Beazers until all four children were baptized on Dec 16. The family is now super active and loves coming to church and the kids love family scripture study and prayer. It was amazing to see how Lord led us to them and how much of change this awesome family has made!

Elder Mears and Bishop - Huntington ZL

For about 12 years Elaine has been very close to a family who are members, the Kirby's. After many years of numerous meals with the missionaries and countless spiritual thoughts, Elaine started to consider the idea of becoming a Mormon. The was about 5 years ago. Well in November Elaine asked to be put of the list for the scripture of the day that we send out every morning. We had our first lesson the very next day. By the second lesson Elaine was sure that she wanted to get baptized and she set a date for the next month. At this point she hadn't told her parents that she was even considering being baptized and she was afraid to tell them. Well after a couple lessons she made the decision and told her parents that she was meeting with us. Well her parents weren't very happy about that at all. Over the next few weeks before her baptism, her parents for consistently trying to talk her out of it. Elaine held strong to the her testimony during everything that happened and was baptized on Dec 16th. She has been very actively involved in teaching the primary since before she was baptized and now she is beginning to prepare to serve a mission a year from now.

Elder Hawes and Hansen - Morgantown University

Brad was one of the most prepared people to join the church. He served in the Military and as part of his training spent a few days in the wilderness. His only travel companion was a member of the church. During their time in the woods, they discussed many principles of the gospel. After returning to civilization, Brad made the resolve he would contact the missionaries. He had been studying on Mormon.org for the past few weeks, and began living the Word of Wisdom and other commandment. He was planning to attend church for the first time the Sunday before meeting the missionaries. He met the Elders and a member while they were tracting and was baptized just 2 weeks later, even bearing testimony at his own baptism. It was definitely one of the most amazing Christmas for us all.

Elder Collett and Olsen - Russell

Aaron Artrip is an 11 year old son of a Part-Member family.  He has a brother who's older who also got baptized a while ago and has been trying to get baptized for over a year now.  His mom is a member, and his dad isn't so it was a lot harder to get him to church, and to make everything work out right.  He was so close one time, but they went on vacation and seemed to get out of the habit of coming to church and we thought all hope was lost for a little bit there. Luckily we were able to continue to see them occasionally and keep their hope and fire burning just enough to have the smallest desire to keep going, and for them it seemed like they didn't even think it would be very soon for him to be baptized because his grandpa was the only one he wanted to baptize him, but he wasn't worthy to.

Just the week before Christmas we got a call from them that Aaron could be baptized on the 26th, basically setting himself with a baptismal date, because a different uncle was going to be in town who was an active, worthy member, that was coming to visit for a week or 2.  From that time forward we've been working with him constantly, and with only a week to set up the baptism and get everything ready we had a lot of support from the ward and from his family and were able to get everything taught, and ready for the baptism.  Now it seems like a weight has been lifted from that family and it's just a lot easier for them to do what's right.  It was definitely a miracle that he was able to be baptized so quickly and out of nowhere.  Without his family being an example to him and being the moving force behind him making the decision it really helped him to want to be baptized and is now a member with the Holy Ghost!

Elder Hess and Holmes - Martin

This White Christmas has helped bring some serious Miracles to pass here in Martin, Kentucky! The greatest miracle of all was the opportunity that we had to bring Brother Amos Conn into the church! He was so elect and knew from the first moment we talked to him that he needed to be a part of this Gospel. On the first day of the transfer (Nov. 14) the ward was having a Thanksgiving dinner. A less-active was at the party and asked us to come over to her house that weekend because she needed help to cast out some evil spirit that she could feel. We went there on that Saturday and helped her out, and that is when we found Amos. We met him on November 17 and he was Baptized on December 14. It was such an incredible answer to our prayers and a true miracle given to us from God.

Elder Makemson and Cluster - Clarksburg ZL

One White Christmas Miracle that we had was with the Norton family. We had been praying every day that we might be able to baptize during the months leading up to Christmas, and the Lord blessed us with one of the most amazing and prepared families I've ever known. I know that the Lord hears and answers our prayers and knows each one of us perfectly.

On one Preparation Day, Elder Makemson and I were inside playing a board game when we got a referral sent to us on our phone. We had just finished trying to contact a media referral a few days before that didn't end very well. We were a little discouraged because of that and so we didn't get super excited when this referral came. We didn't even have an address that we could go to because the man lived off of some unknown route. Thankfully we had a phone number that we could call. We called it up, and a very nice man named Ron Norton answered the phone. He asked if we could meet up and set Chick-fil-a as the meeting place. The next day we met him there at lunch time and found out that he was a very friendly, clean shaven middle age man. We could tell that he was happy to see us, so of course that made us really happy to see him.

We went inside the restaurant and he offered to buy our meal. We thanked him and began to think that this might be too good to be true. We picked out a little table in the back and whipped out our copies of the Book of Mormon. He told us a little about himself before we really got started. We found out that Ron had been Catholic all his life, but became somewhat disillusioned by his church when they started to endorse political stand points such as who to vote for. So, him and his new wife started going to a community church, but they felt like something was missing. The spirit, ...along with Glen Beck... lead him to Mormon.org. There he studied the Gospel Doctrines and messages from living prophets for over a month. When he felt the time was right he sent a message through Mormon.org saying that he wanted to meet up with us.

We tried to teach him the basics, but he had already gained a solid understanding of those. When asked how he felt about everything he said "I feel like this church is like a New Catholic church. It's exciting and I want to learn more." That's all we needed to hear as missionaries! Right then and there, inside a busy Chick-fil-a restaurant, we set him on date for baptism and he accepted.

The next week we went over to his place to meet the family. We then met his wonderful wife and two kids, age 13 and 5. His wife was raised Baptist and didn't have the same knowledge of the LDS church that Ron had. Still, she said that she wanted to learn as did their 13 year old son, so we set them on date for baptism as well.

In time the answer that the church is true came to the whole family in the form of their 5 year old son Brody. They came in one day to find him praying on his knees for the first time. When they asked him what he was doing he responded that he was praying about his new church. At that point the spirit touched their hearts, and they knew that the church was true.

The day that all three of them were baptized was a wonderful day that none of us will forget. It was amazing to see the change in them through the light that came into their lives. They were happy and we were overjoyed! I will never forget the Norton family and the love that the Lord showed to us by having us teach them. The church is true. I know it and the Nortons know it.

Elder J. Johnson and Guthrie - Richlands

Matt Hardin was a media referral that lived in Grundy WV. When matt was 7 years old he bought a Book of Mormon at a library sale for twenty-five cents. He read it and by the time he was 14 had collected a small library of LDS literature. At age 23 he contacted the missionaries via mormon.org a few months ago. We made an appointment and traveled out to see him. Matt accepted to be baptized on the first visit and was excited to do so. He was completely receptive at every lesson and kept every commitment diligently. He was baptized three weeks from the time of our first visit. His baptism was a magnificent experience for everyone who attended. matt gave us a small thank you note that said:

Elders, thank you for your time and efforts in teaching me the principles of the restored gospel.  I have known the church was true and spent many years without the blessings of membership and the covenant of baptism. Thank you once again, for now i can take my rightful place among the saints."

Matt was a true miracle and will bless the lives of many.

Elder Blaser and Kleiman - Gallipolis

This White Christmas was one of the best journeys we have had on the mission. While teaching Jeff Golden we learned so much from him but we also learned a lot about ourselves teaching him. He was hanging with a Member in the ward and we invited him to play Basketball , he then started asking questions about why we were out on missions what we believed, For 6 weeks he came to church and he made his decision on getting Baptized but had to tell his family. His family was not receptive to the fact he was becoming a Mormon, They kicked him out, his brother stopped talking to him for a bit and their friendship isn't the same. yet he knew the Church was true and he couldn't turn away from his testimony he received. Jeff was baptized on November 10th, A White Christmas we will never forget. When I asked him how he received his final decision, he said "How could I deny this if it brings me closer to my Heavenly Father."  We are grateful for Jeff Golden and his decision this White Christmas Season.

Elder Solomon and Morgan - Blacksburg University

Katie Scalia is one of the elect that we're always looking for as missionaries and was definitely an answer to our White Christmas prayers.  One of her friends had invited her to Institute one night.  We were able to catch her afterwards and ask her if she would like to learn more about our church.  She obviously accepted.  Over the next several weeks we taught her everything and she absorbed it all.  She just wanted to learn.  She said that everything we shared with her "just made sense."  She was baptized November 3rd.  She's now busy trying to convert all of her friends.  I'm sure that many other baptisms will come because of her commitment to this gospel.  May we remember the blessings that are ever secured through prayer.

Elder Havertz and Chavez - Bluefield

Danny Meade is an amazing man. He is married to a wonderful member of the Church. About a year and a half ago, the Sisters started coming by to visit the Meade's regularly. Most recently Elder and Sister Green have been coming by to teach them. After returning from vacation he made the commitment to be baptized. We set him with a date on Monday and he was baptized that Sunday. Brother Meade is a very charitable man and is always looking for a way to help others. In fact after he was baptized he bought an entire Christmas dinner for a less fortunate sister in the ward. He didn't want any recognition for the act so he had Elder Anderson and I deliver the food. I'm sure he'll be an example to so many others in the coming years. He already is an example to me.

Elder and Sister Clifton - Hazard

Katie referred herself on Mormon.org after attending the branch for quite a few weeks. She awaited missionaries to come into the area, so she could be baptized.

I want to tell you about Katie Smith's baptism.  We had a nice program all planned although I was concerned that we wouldn't have enough Priesthood there.  I called a couple of Brethren and was assured they'd be there to 'cover the bases'.  Then it started to snow-very lightly.  Apparently snow creates real problems for the members here, especially those who live up narrow, winding 'roads'.  We then got a text from the Elders saying they would be there.  Thank you for allowing that.  It made all the difference.  As it turns out, the only people who decided to brave the weather were the Elders, President James and his wife (who spoke on Baptism), Sister Little the R.S. President, us and Katie and her mother...she came and was very gracious.  The baptism went well and President James decided we would confirm her then thinking that there may not be many in Church today.  An inspired decision!Katie is a remarkable young woman.  She has a strong testimony and will be a great asset to this little Branch.  We feel blessed to have been able to play a very small part in her decision to be baptized. Thanks again for allowing the Elders to attend.  I don't know how we would have managed without them.

January 21st, 2013

What a week, just seems like there is never enough time to be a missionary. time is short.  I hope you all are doing well and hope each of you is withstanding the sickness everyone over here is sicker than a dog haha.
Well I got to start off by telling you something cool, it was just something small and simple. Last week we went to dinner with a returned missionaries house and he was telling us a story how on his mission they did something called the "eye of faith". Its when we go into planning and we pray for someone to be placed in our path, but we listen to know what they are going to look like, and where at and at what time, a mission president and a 70 did it and they were able to find great success out of it and he said  that him and his companion did it and they found the person that they were supposed to meet. So we decided to give it a try, my companion and I prayed and this is what we felt. We were supposed to go to appricot trl. at 1 p.m and the person was going to be in a 2 story house and have dark brown hair. so the next day we went and we went prayerfully and we pulled onto this street and there was a couple 2 story houses but 1 stood more than any of them. So we went and knocked and a lady answered she had dark brown hair and we didnt even say a word, she is like i am very interested in learning, come back at 5 when my husband is home. so we did and her husband had to work late so she said come back in a couple day, we went there yesterday and we were able to teach her and her husband, the husband was looking to argue and disagree with everything we said , but the wife was so prepared by the lord, she was asking about after this life, she asked about the word of wisdom and she was giving her husband wierd looks and disagreing to what he was saying haha, at the end i left a book of mormon (on purpose), we went out to the car and we forgot to give them our number so we ran a note with our number on it, and she opened the door and she was excited to read from the book of  mormon and to study more about our church, she asked if we left the book on purpose and we said, no but you can keep it and she got all excited , I really felt like we were sent there for her , I hope her husband wont keep her from learning more. i really felt like we planted a seed. like elder anderson said you can cout the seeds in a apple but you can never count the apples in a seed!!! I also did it with another missionary and we were supposed to meet this guy who was black at a bus stop ( excuse me for bein blunt) and we did and sure enough he was late cause the rain but we ended up giving him a book of mormon, we were able to get his number. Its been amazing to see if we go out with faith, miracles can happen, we are unsure about the lady bein baptized this week but i sure do hope the lord will bless us with this opportunity, it will be a miracle to see a family come into the church. I will keep that endurance of faith to the end.
well I suredo hope your alls week is great. Mamaw you cant keep taking litttle spills in the sand dunes and breaking your bones, we are very brittle so be careful i love you and i hope you get better i misss you all, getting anxious to see you all, thank you all for your support and all you doo.
love you all

January 14, 2013

Family and friends hello!! I hope you all are having such a great week!! I cant believe its so cold in arizona, I guess i brought the weather with me over here haha!! But I sure do hope you all are doing well and I am still praying for every single one of you!!
What a great time it is to be a missionary, I love it out here and I am certainly doing my best to endure to the end!! The work is getting pretty exciting within our area!! We have been working so hard to achieve the standard of excellence, but we have been falling short every week but i am excited to see blessings the lord has in store for me these next few weeks and what I can become. We curently have someone who is excited for baptism at the end of this month on the 26th we astill gotta lot to do with her but I just really hope that the lord will bless me with the opportunity to baptize this family, 5 kids that are 8 and older this will be a tender mercy indeed. I love this work and i owe everything i got and i got to endure to the end because me father in heaven and my savior endure with me to the end and never give up on me. I just hope these last couple weeks I can still BECOME that person i want to be.
I love this quote i heard
"When we are truly converted to the principle of faith, we come to realize there is virtually no limit to what we can accomplish.” Go forward with Faith!
Mind refers to our entire though process, including our planning , our will, our perceptions and judgments. What we think about determines what we do. The mind controls our thoughts, and thought controls our desires, and God grants unto us according to our desires. . . we must think postive to have faith and hope.
Everything we do is based on our desires, if we want it we have to be virtuous and put forth faith. I promise if we want something we have to remove all distractions, in order to return to our father in heaven we must live the gospel of jesus christ everyday, in order to be worthy to enter the temple we must live by temple standards, in almost everything we do is based on our desires and where our heart is. Where is our hearts even in the simple things we do. where our heart is, is where we are. I am so great that i have this time to be on a mission, I love my mission and i hope miracles will never cease and that i will find everyone the lord wants me to teach!!
i love this gospel so much,  i know our father in heavens plan is perfect and how greatful i am to know if I follow the road map and do the things he requires me to do i can return to him. I am greatful for this church and i know without a doubt its true. I am greatful to have been converted in my life and for these truths that I know to be true. I love that I have this opportunity to serve and love others. I love my family and I hope that we can all re align our hearts and desires with what god expects of us. i love you all have a great week!!

                                                                                                                               love you all

January 7, 2013

hey family I hope you all were having a great week I sure do miss you all and I hope you all are doing well!! I hope you had a great new years and I cant believe another year has come and gone just like that. Its gone by so fast.
But Ill tell you what this new year has gotten off to a great start!! We were able to get a referral this week and we went taught this lady, she is from AFRICA, her dad used to be in our ward he joined the church when he moveed here from Africa a long time ago, but just a couple years ago he moved back so she moved here in 1999 and she was a very active catholic person but she felt like something was missing in the religion and so she called us up and we started teaching her. We set her on date the 1st lesson for January 26th and guess what at our second visit she said she was going to make that date, and she knows the book of mormon is true! the cool part about all this is she is not married and has 5 kids and 4 of those kids are over the age of 8, one of the daughters that is 16 was asking awesome questions, I am excited to see what happens over these next several weeks!! isnt that awesome!! I think i found my family and what a blessing it is. I know that if we hold out faithful and strong to the end the lord will bless us and i know this family will join the church. And I know this isnt me at all this is all a blessing from God. So I know if we want something bad enough( of course if its a righteous desire) we have to keep the faith to the end!!
If there is one thing I have grown to love on my mission it is obedience, I love what my mission president said about it this week"obedience is still the key. Little infractions, small deviations really do matter. Never think that any straying from strict obedience can be swept under the carpet. God notices and blesses accordingly. If we are not seeing results, we need to check our obedience level and look for the small things that might be keeping us out of the “Celestial” realm of missionary service." I know that even with the world that we live in today there is no thing that drives the spirit away faster than dis obedience we got to littleraly allign ourselves with god and his purposes we cant do whatever we want and repent later. We got to be obedient. I just love this gospel so much and I hope you all know that, it hurts to not see members come to church or live the gospel by just simply not living the gospel, if we are truely converted to this church we wont leave. and I am so greatful to have a testimony of this church. I know Christ is the son of God, I am greatful that I have the chance to pray everyday and ask my father in heaven for forgivness. I love my father he lights my way. I am greatful for the power of FAITH, we have to have faith to the very end to see miracles happen, I am greatful for the temple its been hard not to be able to go to the temple, and how blessed we are to live so close to one, I look forward to going back and makin it a goal to attend regularly, there is no better place to be than the temple. it can and will strengthen our families. I am greatful for a plan that allows me to be with my family forever, I know its a map to my eternal destination based on our desicions in this life. I love this gospel exercises it daily and you will become stronger spiritually.
I love you all so much and may you all have a fabulous week and a great new year!!

December 31st, 2012

waz up family and friends I sure do hope your week has been well!! I hope you all had a wonderful christmas. I was so indeed greatful to talk to my family  I miss them so much, that was the most wonderful christmas i have ever had. I enjoyed not getting anything and focusing on the true meaning of christmas, I am greatful for my wonderful gift of a family and a mission. On christmas we ate dinner twice, after i talked to my family, we went and knocked doors no one let us but I just know that the message we carry about christ church and his love for all his children is true and I know it  is greatest christmas gift I have in my life. I love my savior and I love my family especially my sweet mother and my dad and my brothers and sisters. I love you so much.
So i had a pretty cool experience on christmas eve, we were walking around in CVS and I started talking to this guy and I ended up having a great conversation with him and come to found out he was looking for a church, and i have talked to him a couple of times this week and he said he really wants to be baptized, I really am hoping that i will have the wonderful opportunity to see him come in to the church. I am greatful that i was able to find one of the lords elect on christmas eve just by simply talking to someone. It was a great experience.
Well this month in our mission we had 30 baptisms and we had 83 baptisms since our White Christmas began. Its amazing to see this work going forward.
Well tomorrow starts a new year. I hope that each of us sets spiritual goals that will bring us closer to God. I know that as we set these goals that we will grower closer as families and our faith in Jesus Christ will grow. So i heard something pretty funny this week, My mission president said that my Testimony can divide oceans. haha me and my cmpanion just laughed. My companion and I are like brothers, i love this kid. we are going to great things!!!
well I know this email is short but I love my mission , i am greatful for a new year and I hope and pray that you all have a great week and know that I miss you all. Happy new years and i will email you next year.

Well this week is pretty exciting because its the start of my last transfer!!!!! Transfers are this week, I am getting someone by the name of elder Wilcox he is from Tuscon Arizona that place sounds really familiar I have a feeling i am going to really love this kid especially from what my mission presidents been telling me so this should be great, good thing I am stayin here in good ol Vinton, ha so if you feel like sending a letter please do, if not bottle up your feelings and tell me in a couple weeks haha :)!! Well I am super happy to be stayin it should be legit I am just glad i dont have to pack, thank goodness. I think it was awesome to hear that brody got home great job CUZ, sounds like you tore it up out there, we will for sure have to sit down and catch up on good ol times in the miss. I hope your doin well dont take to many of the girls save some for me for when i get home haha i will see you soon buddy.
So this week I have been studying JEsus the Christ its a good book, very very deep i have yet to read it on my mission but if I read a chapter a day i could probably finish it before I go home thats my goal!! But I just love the things that I am learning about the savior, this week I have come to know that CHrist is the only one that could be born of an immortal father and a mortal mother. I know that christ went about to fufill his father in heavens will. I have also come to know more than ever that Christ is our Savior and that testimony grows more and more every day just by simple Being a missionary. I was talking with my companion this week and we this calling that we hold is the highest calling within the Church, the things we learn out here i could never learn back home. I just love it when I come to know my savior more and more everyday and it really puts that desire and that yearning to want to be like him. I just love this time of year so much that we have to re-commit or re-allign ourselves with christ, I love him and my father in heaven and I know that they love you so much!!
I hope my brothers and sisters retain in rememberance ( i love it when it says that in the scriptures) how much i love you great job nana in basket ball i know soon you will be able to dunk it over all the girls mom says your the best out there you great sister and your gorgeous stay away from the boys till after your mission , I love you sister and I love the spirit that you always have with you, CADE what up buddy you getting good at football i hear, you keep bein a good brother and setting a good example to your brothers and sisters i know i look up to you alot and i love how close you are to your heavenly father always pray cade, coda bug words cant define how much I freakin love you dude, you little stud out there playing basketball, i remember i got cut from the freshman team in basket ball i am proud of you your doing a great job coda remember that your preparing for your mission now if  you can go watch a mormon message called Staying within the Lines by jefferey R. holland, coda right now more than ever these years you prepare are so crucial for your mission coda i want you to be a missionary now which means becoming like the savior , coda just imagine how sweet it would be to convert one of your friends and baptize them before you left on your mission, i wish i could have baptized someone before my mission coda share the gospel and be an example now dont wait, be like the savior at all times, coda i love you and i justwant you to have the best mission when you grow up and i know that the decisions you make now will effect the people you come in contact with then. December 3rd, 2012

Family and Friends!! I hope you all are doing well, I sure do miss ya bein without family around the holiday can sure be tough some times but its great and ok when you know you are doing the right thing.
Well This week was kinda slow for us here we are working and working we walked basically everywhere this week it was sure crazy haha!! We had a couple cool experiences where we really felt like we needed to be in an area and in those areas 2 members stopped us 1 said that she was from california  and that she hadnt been to church in a while and she was looking to come back so we are excited to visit with her more she has a boyfriend whose a non member so we will see how it goes, and the other person we ran into was a member who has lived in our area for 6 months and she traveled every sunday 45 mintue drive to blacksburg for 6 months, thats a awesome member I tell you what, haha. We are working with a couple investigators we are really struggling trying to get them to come to church, I hate it when they dont come I  just wanna leave church and go drag them outta bed. But we are really trying to work hard I know the elect are out there I love this scripture which gives me more and more hope everytime I read it Doctrine and COvenants 29: 7
"and  ye are called to bring to pass the gathering of mine elect ; for mine elect hear my voice and harden not their hearts."
I just hope aand pray i can find a family my mission president sent me a short letter and said "I know the Lord will bless you and open the opportunity to have a family." I just hope that will come true . I think that is the most wonderful gift i want this christmas is to find a family and there is no better feeling than bringing someone into the gospel so family and friends I would invite you to just include in your prayers for me this christmas.
Well  what a marvelous time of year it is to be a missionary. I pray that we will be filled with the spirit of christ and love this christmas season like my sweet grandma once told me what joy meant:
Jesus
Others
Yourself
The christmas I remember the most at least I think it was christmas is one time my mom  made cookies to go deliver to people and me and one of my brothers and sisters went to go deliver it to people and we saw this lady who got outta her car and one of us said we should go give her a plate of cookies we got out and delivered it and tears just rolled down her face and she said something along the lines of " thank you, you will never know how much this means to me." she had a really hard day I know that we were led by the spirit to serve someone we never meet and it had a big impact. I know this christmas seasone we can serve that same way and make someones day.
I hope my grandma knows how much I love her I hope your doin well G MA keep getting better and look out for those reindeer they can be painful if you get run over by them haha. I sure do love ya and i am thinkin of you
I love you all so much, I hope that your having a great christmas season and I pray that it will be full of wonderful memories of serving others. I love you!!
