Subject: All Safe in the Storm!

Dear Parents of our wonderful Missionaries,

            This week has been an exciting one for us!  For any that do not know, “Battered West Virginia” as they have named it in the news has had some hurricane-force winds come through this past weekend.  No one knew they were coming, so not many were prepared for the power outages or water breaks that we have experienced.  Most of the areas in our mission were without power for some amount of time, and some also lost water for a while.  Many trees were uprooted and roads have been blocked and some homes have been damaged.  We are very pleased to report that none of our missionaries were injured in any way.  Most areas have received power and water back.  One apartment still has no power or water, but any missionaries whose apartment lacks these necessities have been housed with other missionaries or with members of their ward.  We have been able to make contact with each one of the missionaries, all are okay and have reported a successful time doing service for those living in the area they have stewardship over.

            We can see that the Lord truly watches over His missionaries.  It seems in almost every case that our missionaries’ apartments gained their utilities back before most any other place in the cities they reside in.  This experience has been one that has strengthened our faith that the Lord’s hand is in every trial we encounter.  There have been many investigators found and re-contacted solely due to the storms and our missionaries’ efforts to serve and rebuild their communities.

            We are looking forward to a week that may have more storms ahead of us, but it is our testimony that as the Lord taketh away, so the Lord then showers with desired and pleaded-for blessings.  We are grateful for your encouragement to your sons and daughters here in the mission field, helping them to catch the vision of all that can be realized in times of trial.  Some of your missionaries may not have the ability to e-mail you this week, we are aware.  We wanted to be sure you knew why they didn't contact you if this was the case.  But rest assured that every one of them is safe and accounted for!

Family and Friends Git R Done!!! whats going on everyone!?! I hope you all have had a super duper week and are stayin out of that awesome summer arizona heat, just think it could be worse and you could be where i am at where its always humid and sticky!!!! This week has been Crazy with all the big storms we didnt have power for one night and it was so HOT in our house!!! But we are safe and our air is back on :).

 so this week things have just been crazy busy with the storm tryin to make sure our missionaries are safe. Apparently most of the missionaries apartment dont have electricty or water what a fun time to be a zone leader :)!!!

I wanted to start off by telling you all a little expereience about what happened this week, in no way am i trying be prideful or anything, But this is all directed by the spirit and its been on my mind the past couple of days. It was late in the evening on saturday probably at around 8 p.m and we were having a tough time figuring out what to do. I went and knelt and asked heavenly father to please bless to do something late this evening , help us know who we can bless and after i ended my prayer this name came immediately to my mind saying we needed to go see this family, I brought my companion in and told hime to pray with me and again the name came to my mind. So we went, we got there and the brother said " Elders thanks for coming i have been really sick these past couple of days and i dont know who my home teachers are and i would really like a blessing, we went in and proceeded a little later to give him a blessing. I know that the spirit spoke to me because I was willing to listen and heed its promptings, I know that if we follow the spirit  it will lead us to do whats right. i am so greatful I had this experience and i know it will be something I always remember.

 This week in my studies I finished Alma getting ready to start on Helaman, i hope I can finish the book of mormon at least 2 times before I come home. :) I found an awesome quote by Spencer W. Kimball that says :

"I find that when I get casual in my relationships with divinity and when it seems like no divine ear is listening and no divine voice is speaking, that I am far, far away. If i immerse myself in the scriptures the distance narrows and the spirituality returns."

 I know that as we continure to immerse ourselfs in the scriptures that we can recive that divine help that is nessecary throughout our day. I know that if we simply just pick up and read the scriptures daily our days will be better and we will be more happier as we seek to communicate with God.

I miss you all so much , I hope you all have an amazing 4th of July we will probably be going to a members house and watching fireworks and playing CORNHOLE its a game where you toss the bean bag in the hole, so much fun and I am way good , elder makemson is not that bad for bein blind in one eye haha.

I love this work so much I love my family and friends and I know that the work which I am about is true, I love the gospel and I pray that I can be the best represenative of Jesus Christ that I can be, I love my savior and I know that I am his diciple at all times and in all things and in all places. Hello friends and family , i am going to appologize ahead of time if this email is short but i have been really busy this week and not much new is going on here. But I hope you all are having such a great , great week.   I want nothing but the best for you all be cause all of you matter so much to me!!!!!

 Well this week I thought I would just bear a testimony , it stinks i cant bear it in person but i hope you all can feel that same spirit over email. Lately I have gained a testimony just how important the scriptures. I know that the scriptures can be like packets of sun shine and make us happy. I know that satan will get not to read or he might distract us and seem to pull us farther and farther away from the scriptures, but i know as we take the time to read we can be filled with happiness. I have come to know alot on my mission how important obedience is, it seems like every time i turn around that the lord is reminding me to be obedient, sometimes i feel like i can never measure up But I know that obedience does bring blessing , we got to remember to obedient to the principles of the gospel, to our leaders and to the simple things that matter most in our life. If we remember the Strippling warriors, it says the obeyed with exactness i wonder how much different things would have been for those 2000 young men if they hadnt obeyed, Remember in the book of mormon , I believe it was the nephites made a covenant never to take up arms or fight again and Helaman had to remind them of the covenant they made, and they obeyed. We got to be obedient , we not be perfect , but how greatful I am for the gift of repentance which gets me back on that striaght and narrow. It litterally is a gift to me , just by making steps of repentance I can be so much more happier and not dwell on past transgression. I am so greatful to be a worthy priesthood holder and missionary. I love the gospel of Jesus Christ. I love my savior I love wearing this black name tag every day. I feel empty without it on, I will always remain worthy to bear his name on my chest. I think when i get home i am going to get a tag that says brother bentley so i can remember that belong to his church and that i am a representaive of him at all times, and in all things, and in all places. I love my father in heaven I love communicating with him, i know he is always there for us and he loves us so so much. I know without a doubt that this church is true and i know that Joseph saw what he said he saw and i know that the book of mormon is the word of god. I know that we have a living prophet today. I love my family so so much . I love my friends. I am greatful for each and everyone of you who have impacted my life. Thank you for your sacrafice. Lately I love the temple how blessed we are for what we have for the opportunity to go to the temple weekly and to make special covenants. I would challenge you to go every week. Thats something i am going to make a habbit when i get home. i know that these things are trues and these are things that matter most to me more than anything in the world. I love serving my father in heaving and these wonderful people of west virginia and i love my recent converts so muchand i hope and pray everyone of them will cherish the gospel forever.

I love you all so much i am sorry nothing really new happened just went on alot of exchanges and ya. I love you all so much , thank you for taking the time to read these emails i hope they are worth your time. Have such a great week you all are the best.

My dearest family and friends!!!! Helllo, I hope you all have had an exciting splendid week!!!! I sure do miss you all so much.

This week has been busy busy busy, thats all that life is now days is just busy!!!! I honestly wish i could slow time down and enjoy things, but we it just keeps movin and i just keep livin haha. So we have traveled alot this week, been to maryland and everwhere. And this week is going to be even more busier. We are hoping to go fishing next week with our recent converts husband :) cant wait i havent been fishing in a while!!!!

 So this week has been pretty good, I was able to go on exchanges and tract into a awesome elect lady who has just been waiting for the gospel. We meet with her on saturday and had an amazing lesson that was just so amazing and spiritual!!! We felt really prompted by the spirit to set her with a date for July 28 and feel really good about her making her date, this should be an exciting conversion to watch. I love it!!!

 Then our recent convert Jerri Vincent is doing so so great !!! Lately she has been taking care of a member from maryland, and it has been alot of stress on her so we were able to go give her a blessing, but the sister that she is taking care of is the one that introduced her to the church, she really hasnt been feeling well and just is emtionally going through a hard time and spiritually. And I dont wanna brag or boast in myself thats certainly not what i am doing , but the spirit was so strong as i gave her the blessing and exercised my priesthood, I am greatful for the spirit, i love heeding to its promptings, there has been a countless number of times on my mission where the holy ghost has guided me to know what to say. I listen and it seems to tell me what to say, it truely is amazing to listen and to follow its prompting and watch it effectour heavenly fathers children in such a powerful way, its amazing.

 So this week I read an awesome talk by Elder Henry B. Eyring from general conference called mountains to climb. He shared something that really stuck out to me.

"But President Monson has also wisely taught that a foundation of faith in the reality of those promises takes time to build. You may have seen the need for that foundation, as I have, at the bedside of someone ready to give up the fight to endure to the end. If the foundation of faith is not embedded in our hearts, the power to endure will crumble."

In this talk he talked alot about trials and why we have them and how we can overcome them, but  I know that if we put that faith in the priesthood and in the blessings we recieve we will not crumble. Remember to make sure you put that faith in all things. And i know that our father in heaven will be there to strengthen us and help us at all time. I am greatful for a loving heavenly father who is willing to support me through all my troubles and low times i am greatful for my davior who is there to lift me at all times.

 "The feeling of love from our Heavenly Father is like a gravitational pull from heaven. As we remove the distractions that pull us toward the world and exercise our agency to seek Him, we open our hearts to a celestial force which draws us toward Him." 

 "Heavenly father is aware of us, he knows that sometimes we need to hear words that have not been said. He has put the authority on the speak and act in his name through the gift of the priesthood. It is through this gift that we are able to have the ordinances that will allow us to return to our Heavenly Father, and it is also through this gift that we are able to be comforted and healed. Those who hold the priesthood have the ability to speak directly in Heavenly Fathers name to provide comforting words to those in need."

 I love these two quotes let us not forget the priesthood which has the power to provide comfort to us.

 I hopw my das and my grandpa and all the dads i know have had a wonderful fathers day , i am greatful for your loving examples to me thank you for the way you hold your priesthood and how much you teach me to become a better son and a better missionary. I hope my heavenly father know how greatful i am for him as a father, i know that he has always been there for me, he knows me , and he loves me. I love him and i am greatful that he is my father. Happy fathers day.

Subject: love ya all

Howdy ya all!!! What such a great week , and I hope you all can agree with me. The field is ALWAYS WHITE and ALWAYS READY TO HARVEST. I hope and pray that your families are all doin so so well, please know i love ya and i send my love to ya all from West Virginia.

 Well I have been so blessed once again to see such a wonderful conversion from start to finish!!! THis week Elder Makemson and I had the opportunity to baptize Jerri Vincent it was such a great baptism!!!  I had the opportuinity and privledge to baptize her, that baptisimal prayer was just so powerful it was really amazing. She came up outta the water and just thanked me over and over. I know that again this is why I came to West Virginia i couldnt imagine how much different my life would be if i hadnt have come to this mission or be here at this time, so This week we spent most of our time preparing her for her baptism it was awesome.

Then this Week we had Zone Leader Council I learned alot about obedience, I thought alot about a letter my grandma wrote to me before my mission saying to be totally obedient and obey all mission rules. She shared with me a quote by elder neal A Maxwell: "Be different from the world in order to make a difference in the world." I know that obedience is so important I have comitted not only to president pitt but to the lord to me a more righteous priesthood holder and to be a 110% obedient till the end of my mission, it seriously not worth it to   be partially obedient or to pick and choose what we will and wont obey. I know That I may not be perfect but I am greatful for times like thses where i have my savior to help me commit to things that may seem small but in the long run are so big.

I hope Brad Welchman and Danjee have a great birthday , i love you brothers and your families thanks for your support wnd your great examples have such a great day .

I am soorry I didnt have alot of time to email today but hope you all know i love you and next week will be better there was alot of emails to read, I love you all so much have a great week, lets move this gospel forward together .

Howdy ya all its great to be emailing ya this week. It makes me so happy to communicate with you all every week!!! I love ya and hope you had such a great week!!

I love my mission so much i know i say that probably a thousand times but its true. HOnestly I really think I have had the best companions in the world. THey are so spiritual and such great leaders, I wonder if at times if they get tired of serving with me sometimes i may be a pain in the neck to get along with, but i feel so blessed to have great spiritually strong companions. Well this week I was sad to see my good friend elder Kelsch leave but i have been blessed with a wonderful companion and his name is Elder Makemson, he is pretty sweet, He is from arizonna acctually lives not to far from my house pretty crazy we always have a lot to talk about haha. Its so much fun and i love just everything i am learning from these missionaries.

 Well Alot is happenin here in C-Burg we had our awesome investigators Jerri Vincent come back from Vacation this week, We probably be seein her everyday this week since we have her baptism coming up this friday!!!!! She is just so solid she sacraficed her own baptism for her friend who was in the hospital, her friend is Shirley Weaver and was the one who recieved her endowment and introduced jerri to the church, While Jerri has been gone these past 2 weeks she really was converted to the lord and wants to do this for him because she knows its right and true for her and not for another person besides herself. THis has been such an amazing conversion to be apart of she is amazing and we cant wait for this weekend. Then yesterday we were able to set this other family on date Their names our Chris and Kayla Dorsey, they are an awesome family and they all want to be together for ever with their family. We are excited to see this conversion as well. This work just brings forth such great blessings its amazing!! I love it her in clarksburg and the blessings i am able to witness. Me and elder makemson have alot of work to do for this zone , I can tell this is going to be a blast because he is fun and spiritual.

 Well Lately I have been studying alot about the apostasy , you know I have never really had a testimony of this principle until recently, I know that there had to be some sort of falling away to bring about the Restoration of all things. Something I learned this week while reading the scriptures is God promises us that there will never be another apostasy because everything that was lost is once again restored through Joseph Smith. How lucky we are as Latter Day Saints to have a living propheet again on this earth, to have the priesthood to perform saving ordiances and to guide and direct Christ church on this earth today. I also learned that we can individual apostasy where we turn away from the truth, or simply try to bend the rules or commandments to fiit us, My friends and family I know our savior lives please know that this restoration is true. Just stop and think about how many blessings we have in our lives because of this Church. Its not worth it to go away or to pick and choose what we will obey, remember obedience in all things brings the richest blessings in eternity. I know this may sound preachy and I am sorry But I have come to know that these things are true I know that Joseph Smith is the lord mouth piece. I love my savior , I love bein able to witness such spiritual conversions which bless my life so much. I know that these things are true and i am greatful to be sharing this gospel in this part of the world. Its such an amazing experience to be apart of this 56,000 vast army of missionaries proclaiming this true gospel.

 I want my grandma to know I love her , I am thankful for her sacrafices for me in my life she is amazing thank you for everything ;) I miss talking to ya but I anxiously await to talk to you again on Christmas, I hope you have such a great birthday , and remember I love you so much.

We aRe Family!!!!!!!!!  I love you all so much i hope you all have had such a great week, my goodness i dont ever think you all will know how greatful I am for each and everyone of you!!!! 

 Well This week has been pretty exciting and busy as a zone leader!! I think  one of the things i love about this area is we play Basketball with a bunch of non-members every tuesday and thursday, i gotta admit i am loving the basketball, cant wait to get home and keep playin some good old church ball.

 So I am getting a new companion tomorrow!!! His name is elder Makemson, not even sure if that is how you spell it. But I am excited to see what this next transfer brings, president pitt and the lord is expecting alot outta me, that was told to me this week so i got alot to do. We were so blessed in our zone to see a couple baptisms, but right now we are in the rebuilding stages of gettin more people on date, I hope I can find a way to get an even balance of dates and baptism at the same time. BUt I am excited this next transfer will be fun!!! So we are hoping to see another baptism within the next 2 weeks for this lady named jerri Vincent we are so excited, just need to finish the lessons with her and get her baptized, she is just so elect and prepared by the lord it amazing, she loves my companion that i have now and doesnt wanna see him go . . . But we are excited for ehats going on within our ward and the zone a missionary thats leaving tomorrow is getting a baptism today before he leaves thats so amazing !!!! Blessings are just all over the place for us. We started to teaching an awesome family who will eventually get baptized, we got some other people on the radar who are lookin to investigate the church. The work is pickin up but there is still so much to do!!!

 I just wanted to tell Uncle Craig how greatful i am for him and his wonderful example for me to serve a mission, i heard your health is not doin so well just remember to put forth faith , i promise and i know that the lord loves ya and the wonderful uncle that you are , he is watching over ya. I hope you know i love ya and i appreciate all the things you do for me and my family!!!!

Well not to much new this week, but I am super excited for what is to come this next transfer, i love you all so much!!!! Please have such a great week and i miss you all.

Howdy you all. Can i tell  ya its just so awesome to be able to tell you everything about what happens out here, I love my family and friends so much and i hope you all know how grateful i am for you. I hope you all have had such a great week and please tell your wonderful families that i said HI!!!!
 This week me and my companion had such a wonderful baptism this week, and are lookin forward to the  one this week. :) !!!! THINGS ARE JUST PEACHY!!! But we were able to baptize a wonderful sister named ursula reed. she is going to be awesome in the church. :) . Its just been such a blessing to watch the spirit convert so many people to this wonderful gospel. I truely do love this work and wish i could have this calling for a lifetime. Like always the spirit was just so amazing and i am great to be a helping hand with God in these peoples conversions.  We are really excited for our baptism this week!!! We have a couple lessons to teach by the end of this week. in order for her to be baptized, but she is just so ready!!!! and Excited she told us yesterday, elders we have to do all we can to get me baptized this week. So we are on for this week. 2 baptisms 2 weeks in a row. What a wonderful blessing from our father in heaven to these two wonderful sisters , its just fun to sit back and watch I love it. I cant wait to get home to rear my family in missionary work, and have my family bring people into this wonderful gospel. I love devoting my life to this its a blessing to my life so much i love it.
 Well if there is one thing i am learning the most on my mission , its the importance of being obedient. Obedience is not just giving a little bit here and a little bit there, but its important to be obedient in everything, all we are required to do, is to be clean physicaly and spiritually , make our covenants and keep them, and live the gospel daily. I was reading a talk this morning about the importance of not just going through the motions , but bein coverted to the gospel. Friends and family we have to be obedient in everything we do , we may slip butt that is what the gospel of Jesus CHrist is there for. We Need to be obedient in all things, i am still learning that lesson. BUt just remember to be obedient to the simple things, and the hard things will be easier obey. I promise that and i know its true.
 I just wanna send a happy birthday shout out to my brother cade and tell him I love him and how greatful i am for you my man, have such a great week, and i ll try to get a letter to ya soon, i love you bud and remember i love ya.

Howdy ya all. I hope you are all doin so great. I seriously have the best family and friends in the world. Thank you for bein such a blessing to me and I express my gratidue for your many prayers not only in my behalf but for all the missionaries around the world and this great work. Thank you thank you thank you, we need them every minute of everyday and you dont know how much your simple prayers are effecting the lives of so many people. I love you and appreciate you and i hope your week was just so wonderful.

 Well I had a great phone call home, I love my family and friends so much. It was so great hearing their voice. I have come to learn just how important my family is, I enjoy having a simple phone call with them and that phone call just means the world to me it makes my day. No one can beat my family. I thank father in heaven for my family that i can live forever with. 

So today i just wanna take the time to bear a simple testimony today. . .

I love the gospel of jesus christ. Its so amazing to know as i exercise the gospel daily i can become a stronger person , and its easier to overcome sin. I know without the gospel my life  would be a scattered mess, it would honestly be harder and  i am just so greatful to have the gospel that fills every hole and gap in my life, what a sincere blessing to have everything we need that is given to us. As you all know i love my savior, he is my friend, and my redeemer and i am greatful to testify that He lives and that he appeared to a young boy joseph smith. I know that he stands at the head of our church. I am greatful to be his personal represenative in word and in deed. I know alot of times i fall short and make simple mistakes, but I know that ican become like my savior and be as he is. Its something I am working on is bein a better representive of him in all i do and say. I love my family so much. I know this church is true and I pray tthat we will all contiue to establish our homes on the gospel of Jesus Christ.

 I love youall so much plese have a great week and  i promiese next week i will have more to say, but i hope this short testimony can help your week in some way. I love youall !!!!

Whats up you all. This week has been just such a great week for us here in
the "BURG". I love It here!!! But I sure do hope you all know how much i
love you , I wish i could call each one of you and tell you personally how
greatful I am for you and the examples you are to me. I hope you have
had such a great week!!!!
I first wanna just do a couple of  shout outs to my brothers Coda and
Cade, Coda  congrats on your eagle project, I remember just how happy
i was when i got mine and just how hard and i worked to achieve it. I
know you probably feel the same way, I know you worked hard over the
past couple of years to achieve it i am proud of ya. Remember how
important it is to work hard and to go above and beyond what you need
to do, that is going to apply in your mission you can either give it
your fullest effort or only part of it, Just remember to go above and
beyond what your expected to do. I love ya bro i am happy for you i
wish i could be there to help. I hope you have a great week!!!
Cade good job on your arrow of light buddy. I know you just like your
brother worked very hard. I hope you know how much I love you cade and
i wish i could have been there to see you get your reward. I love you
my little man.
And for all those that had a birthday, HaPPY BIrthday :) Chase I am so
greatful for you and the wonderful cousin you are and the example you
sset for me to go on a mission thank you chase. I hope your graduation
went well, nowyour off to BYU as i hear congrats on that, i hope you
do well. I cant wait for you to teach me about school when i get home,
haha because i forgot everything the only thing i know how to do is
add up numbers every sunday , you know what i mean :). But I hope you
had a great birthday, i sure do love ya and am greatful your a
blessing to our family. So keep it up. and stay in touch will ya.
And Happy birthday to Sister Stowers, And sister Bigley back in Logan,
I sure do love yaa , and i really hope I get to serve there again, i
cant wait to come back and see ya. I sure do love ya and i am greatful
for the support that you give to me out here. I hope your birthdays
are great and fataastic and remember i love ya both.
Alrighty, So I am so excited to finally tell you all whats goin on
over here in my neck of the woods, So that investogator that we meet
last week, is just so amzing, i wish you all could be flys on the wall
and watch it, Its truly special to be apart of this conversion. We
went over there this week and taught an amazing lesson with president
and sister pitt  and she just understood and agreed with everything,
it was amazing, then the next day  her and her husband came and we
gave her a tour of the church. It was so great we had members with us,
she said this " so when i am baptized will i have to wear all white. "
She is so excited to be a member, she says this is home and we are
like family to her already, we are so excited for her and just how
much she has grown this last week. While we were giving a tour of the
church she asked so you all believe in the word of wisdom we said yep.
she said so i have to give up and coffee and everything and she said
yep. and thats all that was said. this sunday when she came to church
she told us elders i prayed and asked god if I needed to give up
coffee and and i decided to quit, but she started getting all these
migranes and headeaches so bad that she had to go the doctor and get
shots. she came home and said 1 more drink of coffee wouldnt hurt, she
drank a sip and spit it out and she says she doesnt want it
anymore!!!! Its just so amazing watchin her progress in the gospel. I
just cant imagine if i was anywhere else in the world how much
different my life would be. I am greatful for all these wonderful
people that i have been able to teach on my mission. they are indeed a
blessing to me and they truely help me become more converted to the
gospel.
I wanna take a minute and just tell all the moms and grandmas
especially my mom and gradma how much i love you and thank you for
your hard work and service that you do each and everyday. I am so
greatful to have a mom who is my bestest friend, who cares about what
i go through and is always willing to help me. I love my mom and
gradma more than words can describe and i love these simple holidays
that enable me to express my gratitude all of you mothers. I hope that
we will seek out the LOVE our father in heaven has for you
individually. YOu all are great!!! I thank my heavenly father for a
wonderful mom and a wonderful grandma. I loveyou. I hope you all have
a happy mothers day. :)
So yesterday i taught my first zone conference where all the elders
and sisters in the zone get together and they learn from president and
sister pitt, assistance, and the zone leaders. We taught about tithing
and how we can truely convert people through the commandment and how
they will feelif they are truely converted. I gotta tell ya i was
nervous, but we sure did a good job and the spirit was so strong. I
love this zone and the missionaries and this area. This week there was
this area that was strugglin a bit, so I went on exchanges, I went to
maryland for the first time. BUt this area that was strugglin had no
investigators, so we were knockin doors i was with a brand new
missionary and we came to this door and I felt like whoever was behind
this door, I need to say "We have a message for families and how they
can be together for ever. thats all i said. the lady said come back
tomorrow. the missionaries went back the next day after the exchange
and had an amazing visit and found out they were from Utah and really
wanted to hear the message with their families. It was just such a
great experience to help that area that was strugglin and i just found
a new sence of energy come into them and it was amazing to help them
find somone. I love this work. I wish i could be a missionary forever.
I got alot to do as a missionary , and yesterday sister pitt reminded
me of that, she said im a great leader and the lord is really going to
use me to help missionaries within the mission and to help this
mission become better, and i am going to be a helpin hand in that. she
said something along those lines, but i know i got alot to do, and
learn in order to succeed. I am excited to see what comes.
